Woodstock Pantry News Brief January 14
This weekend, we served 226 neighbors.
News from the Shifts
Receiving – This weekend, we moved 3,713 lbs. of food. Receiving is great for those who like to lift and carry food and get a workout! This team traditionally has been short staffed, I think, because of the hours. However, we have a few newcomers experimenting with it who I’m hopeful will decide it’s a good match.
Packing – You just never know what we will get from OFB. This week, we only got carrots, turnips and oranges. It makes me miss summer, with the plethora of fresh produce from our community gardens! This team is perfect for folks who don’t do heavy lifting and who like a bit slower pace. The shift usually is full. So, to help out our Distribution team, this team is adding a few tasks to their to do list. Hopefully, that will take a bit of pressure off our Distribution Teams. Now – that’s teamwork!
Distribution – Our distribution teams are coming together as new volunteers return to create consistency on the teams. That is so helpful! Distribution is fast-paced and requires that team members work tightly in sync with each other. It is also the shift wherein we have the closest contact with our neighbors, so customer service is the name of the game! We always need volunteers for these shifts.
