Woodstock Pantry E News Brief December 12
This weekend, we served 230 of our neighbors, AGAIN despite the limitations imposed by the pantry break-in! Thanks for everything you added this weekend! Note that we are serving every weekend this month. We are still short volunteers for Christmas and New Year’s weekends. Even if you can just give a couple hours, it will be greatly appreciated.
Contemplations
7am Friday morning, I received a call from Ghena! Then, he showed up at church! He set to work immediately, helping us to move all the food from Oregon Food Bank. Then, he stayed on to help with the packing shift. He taught me that he pronounces his name, Ge as in get…na. And he is Moldovan. Everyone let him know that he is welcome with us, anytime. He came back on Saturday and enjoyed a hot meal, warm shower and everyone sharing how excited they were to see him. Before he walked off with his bike, Rob did a bike check for him. You should have seen the smile on his face!!! My mind has traveled many places as this situation has evolved. But I’d like to stand in this moment with gratitude…for Ghena, for you all and for our opportunity to share in this vital work.
SE Uplift Grant
This week, Andria and I received an email from SE Uplift. We were awarded the grant!
