Weekly Rector's Note: Happy Epiphany!
Dear Saints,
Happy Epiphany! Today, January 6, is the actual feast day. However, we will transfer it to Sunday so that we can celebrate it together.
As the word suggests, “Epiphany” is about manifestations, revelations, appearances and “aha” moments, all of which are themes in this liturgical season. The first epiphany we read about is of the revelation of Christ to the Magi, who followed a star to the place of Jesus’ birth and honored him with gifts.
In our worship this Sunday, we will have Epiphany themed prayers, sermon and music (all you “We Three Kings” fans out there, this is your chance!).
Our new Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Amanda Cintron, will lead an Epiphany themed lesson during the 10:15am service in the Parish Hall for our kids. We will have crown-shaped cookies (vegan and GF) and an opportunity for “Show n’ Tell” where kids can share about something they have been looking for or looking forward to AND/OR anything they want to bring or share. For kids sitting in the service, there will be a coloring dot-to-dot page on the clipboards.
After the 10:15 service, we are holding a Newcomers Introduction & Building Tour. This brief presentation provides the basics on all you need to know about All Saints. Deb Miller will be giving her fascinating quick-history of our parish. And Kathy Martin will be giving her famous building tour where everyone tries not to get lost in the church’s hidden passages. All are welcome to attend whether new or not.
Don’t forget to sign up for the Blood Drive this coming Thursday if you would like to participate.
Also, now is a great time to buy tickets for the Derek Webb concert. We already have over 40 people signed up. Many thanks to our parish superhosts Bryan, Jennica, Yohaan and Jake who will be helping with event support. If you haven’t heard Webb’s music, you can listen to it on Spotify. It’s going to be a fun show and a great chance to move further into the Woodstock Commons vision of being a place that brings people together around service, music, art and conversation.
Light and love you this Epiphany!
