Weekly Rector's Note: All Saints Shout Out on OPB
Dear Saints,
I think All Saints is a special place, and I could go on about the amazing things you all are doing. But it carries different weight when you hear this kind of testimonial from a neighbor, totally unexpected and unsolicited, and on public radio no less!
Recently, OPB did a segment on the January 2023 point-in-time count, which gathers data on what homelessness looks like in our region. The volunteer who collected data at All Saints during our Saturday ministries had this to say:
“An absolutely wonderful place, All Saints Episcopal Church in Woodstock. On Saturdays, they have outreach where they have a free hot lunch at one entrance, they have hygiene products at another, and then in the back, actually in the church, they have their pantry where you can come. And then in addition to that, they had a shower truck with laundry there, with clothes as well. And that was wonderful, because people were hanging around to wait for their shower and so a little bit more willing to talk.”
You can find a link to the transcript or to listen to the segment with Geoff Norcross here.
Great work to our Outreach volunteers and to everyone in the All Saints community. Whether you volunteer on Saturdays or not, you are part of supporting the bigger picture that makes it all possible. Thank you, and way to go!
This Sunday we continue in our Lenten journey and enjoy the space for introspection and transformation of this contemplative season.
Also, I look forward to seeing a number of you tonight at the Concert for the Human Family at All Saints at 7pm. You can still buy tickets online or at the door.
In peace,
Andria+
