Weekly Note: Supporting BIPOC Businesses Town Hall and Grubby Sunday this Weekend
Dear Saints,
I was thrilled to hear about the Knights' pledge to invest $400 million in the Albina Neighborhood and what that will mean for Black Portlanders. It makes me all the more excited for the Town Hall that The Voices Project is putting on at All Saints this Saturday, "Addressing the Wealth Gap By Supporting BIPOC Businesses."
When he was with us last, Rev. Leroy Barber preached on the economic implications in the Biblical understanding of justice. Our conversation Saturday will deepen our understanding of what this could look like in our context. The event is free and will be held tomorrow from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Grinds and Vines will be doing a pop-up shop with refreshments for purchase. Thank you to those who have signed up to help!
Also, this Sunday bring your garden tools and gloves and for Grubby Sunday. We'll have pizza (vegan, gluten free, vegetarian and meat options will be available), seltzers and/ or coffee after the 10:15am service. Then we'll head out to make our grounds beautiful. Grubby Sunday is always a fun, communal effort, and there are opportunities for all ages and yard work abilities.
Looking forward to a weekend of "digging deep" with you all.
In peace,
Andria+
