Season of Creation
Dear Saints,
One thing I love about the Episcopal tradition is that connection to and care for the environment is a value and priority. I also love our liturgy and the way it provides a pattern for worship, but allows creativity within that framework. I am so excited that these two strengths are coalescing in the new Season of Creation liturgy developed by the Episcopal Church and approved for use by our bishop. As the description says:
“In Jesus, God so loved the whole world. We follow Jesus, so we love the world God loves. Concerned for the global climate emergency, drawing on diverse approaches for our diverse contexts, we commit to form and restore loving, liberating, life-giving relationships with all of Creation.”
Because this unique and innovative resource is being encouraged in our diocese, we are going to use it at both the 8AM and 10:15AM service starting this Sunday through our celebration of St. Francis on October 6. I hope you will enjoy using these beautiful prayers and affirmations during this time.
Last Sunday, my heart was full from the many blessings (backpacks, the Pantry, the new ADA entrance, new ministries, birthdays and anniversaries…) and how wonderful it was to have so many of our kids singing their song from summer camp.
And we had a fabulous turnout for our Newcomers Dinner this last Wednesday. I am already looking forward to the next one.
A week from this Sunday, on September 8, we are going to have Portland Coffee Roasters coffee and Voodoo Donuts as we kick off the new program year, relaunch Godly Play and welcome back to the choir!
In Peace,
Andria+
