Rejoice!
Dear Saints,
On this upcoming third Sunday in Advent, we have reasons to rejoice!
For one, it's Gaudete (the Latin word for rejoice). Also called Rose Sunday, it dates back to the Middle Ages when Advent was observed as a penitential time. Gaudete gave Christians a little reprieve from their fasting. Though we now regard Lent as the more penitential season, we have maintained the tradition of making this Sunday an intentionally joy filled celebration. You are welcome to wear pink as one possible way to mark the occasion.
It’s also the day of our visitation from the bishop. We welcome Bishop Diana Akiyama as our presider and preacher for our 10:15am worship service. Join us after the service in the Parish Hall for a cake reception. And please be praying for those who will be confirmed, received or make a reaffirmation of faith.
Blessings of joy and much rejoicing this weekend!
