Rector's Note: Finding Joy
Dear Saints,
This last week I was talking to someone about themes for their event, and instantly my mind went to colorful things — rainbows, balloons, and fluffy clouds of cotton candy. I don’t always have such whimsical leanings, but I recognize it now as a desire for joy. I noticed the same desire when I was listening to someone in another context preach and found myself desperately wanting to hear some good news. It’s not that I wanted them to overshadow the reality we’re in, but it's always nice to hear words of hope despite our circumstances.
This Sunday, I’m going to preach on joy — why it’s important (especially in hard times), what scripture tells us about it, and how to have more of it. We will also begin our 2-part workshop, “What Death Can Teach Us About Living,” at 9:00am on Zoom (information below). This Sunday we will focus on medical end-of-life considerations. Next Sunday will be on Funeral Planning and related details. Both sessions will speak to the spirituality around living and dying well, which can also be a joyful thing.
You can join us for our 10:15am Sunday morning service online or in-person. To attend in-person, please RSVP here or by calling the church and leaving a message. Please assume you are signed up unless you hear otherwise. We have our 8:00am call-in service as well.Blessings to you this weekend!
