Dear Saints,
I don't know about you, but I could use some extra prayers. Prayers for our country as Covid rates increase. Prayers for parishioners and others who are going through difficult times. Prayers for people in Portland who are at risk in this next heat wave. Prayers of gratitude for how beautiful summer in Portland is. Prayers of blessing for our church family. Prayers for the little encounters everyday where the light gets in.
As a worshipping community, we come together several times every week to bring our prayers and to remember that we are surrounded by one another's prayers as well as the prayers of our saints. This Sunday, we are going to make this reality even more visible as we bring back prayers on the front steps. We'll have a bucket of chalk so people can write prayers, thanksgivings or words of encouragement, or have one of our youth write them for you. Every time we've done this, it's been so moving to have these prayers greet you as you walk into the church.
This Sunday I will preach on finding the sacred in the struggle. Know that I am praying for you, and can't wait to fill the church entrance with our prayers this weekend.
In peace,
Andria+
p.s. This is the last weekend to get the Masterplan Survey in. Thank you to everyone who has turned them in so far!
