Rector's Note: Celebrating God's Love
Dear Saints,
I love that the first line of our mission statement is “to celebrate God’s love.” How many organizations get to make celebrating their first order of business? In framing it in this way, our purpose first and foremost is not about our duty, tasks, or a goal we’re trying to accomplish. It’s not even really about what we do. Instead, it's about our joy-filled response to what God has done for us. Surrounding ourselves in God’s love is our starting point before anything else!
This Sunday, we are going to celebrate God’s love in our worship services and in a teaching on the sacraments at 9:00am. The sacraments are communal celebrations of God’s love in our lives. We will also explore one of Jesus’ most important teachings on the purpose of the church (hint: it also has to do with love).
Then we will have a big celebration after the 10:15am service at the Mustard Seed “Show and Tell” Fundraiser. Don't worry, you can buy tickets the day of if you haven't already done so. All proceeds will go to our outreach ministries and related expenses — a big part of how we share God’s love in the wider community.
It’s going to be a great Sunday! I hope with many experiences of God's love between now and then.
In peace,
Andria+
