Birthdays, Ordinations and More!
Dear Saints,
We have lots to celebrate this weekend.
This month is Lucille Pierce’s 103rd birthday. We’ll have a cake reception after the 10:15am service with birthday cards for people to sign.
We’ll be honoring mothers, mothering figures, parents, God as mother and anyone else we want to hold in our prayers on this day.
The Feast of Ascension was this last Thursday, May 9. We will reflect on its significance as we look ahead to Pentecost, the birthday of the church, next Sunday.
And the ordination to the priesthood for Alex Firman, our intern from England two summers ago, is coming up. We are going to bless the oil stock that will be a gift from All Saints, along with the stole that was made for him and have congratulations cards people can sign. Alex’s father and mother in law will be taking these to England for Alex’s ordination next month.
As we continue celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, it’s worth noting that today our bishop is at St. John the Divine in New York to preach at the Service in Honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Ordination of Li Tim-Oi, the first Asian woman to be ordained a priest in the Anglican Communion. Bishop Akiyama was the first Japanese-American female priest and bishop. You can read more about it in her Diocesan Digest reflection.
One of our parishioners, Yohaan Hall, experienced a devastating house fire this last week. Please hold Yohaan in your prayers and consider to donating to the GoFundMe.
Lastly, I am happy to report we received a nice donation this last week from Reed students of water bottles, toilet paper and other things that can be used in our Outreach ministries. It’s wonderful having this kind of support from our neighbors.
Enjoy the sunshine, and have a great weekend!

p.s. Save the date and sign up for the Diocesan Renewal Gathering on Saturday, June 1. Presiding Bishop candidate and Bishop of Atlanta, Bishop Wright, will be the speaker. I am going and would love to have other All Saints people there. All are welcome!
